Strategic Stakeholders Management

OVERVIEW

The success in your projects depends highly on your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships at all levels. In this course, you learn how to implement changes by focusing on the social styles and personal values. The benefit is you enhance trust and cooperation with stakeholders, get buy-in easier, manage expectations and assumptions through. learning about the social styles and personal values (What Is In It For me).

To minimize risk, all stakeholders are identified via 7 questions, and 9 factors to analyse them. You will be able to prioritise your interactions when you know their relative importance. And you get your desired results when you know which communication style to use.

In the current Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) environment, drastic changes occur extremely rapidly. To successfully implement these changes that involve business analysis, negotiation, facilitation and conflict management skills, a strategy to manage ALL your stakeholders is critical.

10 principles are given to engage stakeholders together with tools to ensure you do not miss any step in the process: Stakeholder Register, Support/Resist Analysis, Engagement Matrix (how often do your interact with them; pull/push communication) and the identification of the Dominant, Dangerous, Definitive stakeholders.

You will learn about your DISC profile, the profile of each stakeholder and know how to manage each personality type, especially when they want to exert control or are under pressure.

After the course, you will be able to dynamically adjust your approach to a wide range of situations.

LEARNING OUTCOME

By the end of the Stakeholder Management program, you will be able to:

  • Identify ALL the Stakeholders, as omitting a Stakeholder is easy, But Extremely DANGEROUS (BED)
  • Know your Stakeholders’ social styles and personal value.
  • Understand and communicate assertively to engage your Stakeholders fully.

Interactive presentation & input, role plays, group and individual activities to reinforce learning. A case study on Day 2 will reinforce the learnings.

DAY 1:

Module 2: WHAT IS STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT?

    • Keep informed,
    • Keep satisfied, etc.
  • Know your allies, the bystanders & non-supporters

Module 3: ARE YOU ENGAGING YOUR STAKEHOLDERS CORRECTLY?

  • Professionally engage
    • Your most important Stakeholder
    • The dominant Stakeholders
    • The dangerous Stakeholders

Module 4: 10 KEY PRINCIPLES OF STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Extremely important part of Risk Management
  • Stakeholders are only human
  • Relationships are key
  • When compromises are needed, and
  • 6 other key principles

Module 5: THE SALIENCE MODEL

  • Method for classifying stakeholders and to decide who do matter!
  • The stakeholder salience is decided by the assessment of their power, legitimacy and urgency in the organization


Day 2:

Module 6: ASSERTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS

  • Say the same thing in different ways to get sympathy and understanding to Know the preferred communication style of each Stakeholder

Module 7: POWER AND MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES

  • How to interact with each Stakeholder when he is under pressure
  • Know how Stakeholders like to exert control
  • How to manage each personality type

Module 8: SIMULATION & CASE STUDY PRESENTATION

  • A list of interesting and challenging simulations and case studies would be distributed for discuss, present and debrief
