Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities

PRE-REQUISITES

All delegates must be in possession of a valid document as listed:

  • Valid seafarer medical certificate issued by an approved medical practitioner.
  • Valid seafarer identity document; AND
  • Be not less than 18 years of age

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • This course covers the requirement of international convention STCW 1978 as amended and Code (Manila amendments 2010) Chapter VI, Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-4 The Liberian Registry requirements. Due to the vastly different environment on a ship as compared to ashore, this course will give new seafarers an insight and knowledge into the various elements of a ship working procedures, environment, better preparation to cope with any unforeseen circumstances on board and smooth their transition from shore to a sea career before they step on board ship.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

To successfully complete this training delegates must competence included knowledge, understanding, proficiency and demonstrating as the following:

  • Comply with emergency procedures.
  • Take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment.
  • Observe safe working practices.
  • Contribute to effective communications on board ship.
  • Contribute to effective human relationships onboard ship.
  • Understand and take necessary actions to control fatigue..
  • This course is suitable for all seagoing personnel employed or engaged onboard vessel as part of the mandatory STCW requirements.
