OVERVIEW
The current business landscape and its challenge of business communication is the perennial obstacle for all professionals pursuing excellence. The ability to speak, write and present with confidence and clarity in the workplace is essential for anyone who seeks an upward career regardless of industry.
The subtle nuances of business communication are often neglected by many who favor profit-driven “hard sell” tactics. As a result, important things like applying the appropriate language to the appropriate context, emphatically listening to the other party, or even punctuating the right content for one’s emails and reports, can be overlooked. Make no mistake, forgetting the basics is the fastest way to get written off as slacker.
From tonality, structure, content and body language, this program offers a crash course on the fundamental principles that need to be utilized to improve one’s communication skills (spoken and written) in the workplace and make for a more effective and confident professional.
LEARNING OUTCOME
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

LEARNING METHODOLOGIES
Highly practical and interactive group and individual exercises will be used to ensure the participants get sufficient practice and exposure. Beware, this is an intensive writing course and there’ll be substantial writing tasks involved.
Optional: You can opt to bring your laptop or handheld devices for writing practice purposes.

- Applying various methods of communication based on the right business situations.
Module 2: The Right Tone and Language
- Good tone vs Bad Tone
- How to say ‘No’ professionally and politely.
- Common Business Vocabulary that You must know.
- Applying the Right Language at the Right Situations
Module 3: Language Structure that You Must Know
- Error-free written communication
- Confusing tenses made easy.
- Common errors in emails to avoid.
- Editing real Emails and Reports (Exercise)
DAY 2:
Module 4: Communicating Face to Face with Clients
- Presenting yourself face-to-face
- Great customer service starts with a smiling voice on the phone.
- Listening to customers’ woes
- The answers that you want are from the Questions that you ask.
- The winning body language in face-to-face communication
Module 5: Presentation skills for Work
- How to calm your nerves when delivering a presentation
- Preparing and structure your message with confidence
- Infuse your Speak Up session with confidence and enthusiasm.
Module 6: Now I am Cool and Confident
- Combine all the skills that you’ve picked up in the course and role play in different real-life situations where you’re required to exercise all your business communication skills in speaking face to face, presenting to an audience and writing concise reports and emails to conclude your learning experience
This course is designed to boost administrative professionals' confidence by increasing their confidence to speak and present to their clients and counterparts, listen and question others with sharper questioning ability and write emails that are effective and error-free.
It is especially suitable for administrative managers, administrative assistants and support personnel, personal assistants and executive secretaries and assistants interested in improving their business communication skills.
