Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats
PRE-REQUISITES
All delegates must be in possession of a valid seafarer medical certificate issued by an approved practitioner, show evidence of attending STCW Basic Training and valid proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats certificate.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- This course covers the requirement of international convention STCW 1978 as amended and Code (Manila amendments 2010) Chapter VI, Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-2 The Liberian Registry requirements on meeting the minimum standard competence in fast rescue boats, a delegate will be competent to take charge such boats during or after launch in adverse weather and sea conditions.
- They will also be able to operate a fast rescue boat engine.
- Delegates will know the correct use of all locating devices, including communication and signaling equipment between rescue boats and helicopters and ships as well as how to carry search patterns
LEARNING OUTCOMES
To successfully complete this training delegates must competence included knowledge, understanding, proficiency and demonstrating as the following:
- Understanding of the construction, maintenance, repair and outfitting of fast rescue boats.
- Taking charge of the launching equipment and appliance as commonly fitted, during launching and recovery.
- Taking charge of the fast rescue boats as commonly fitted, during launching and recovery.
- Taking charge of the fast rescue boats after launching.
- Operating the fast rescue boat engine.
- This course is aimed at seagoing personnel designated to launch and take charge of a fast rescue boats in an emergency.
