GWO Basic Safety Training Off-shore

PRE-REQUISITES

All personnel participating in Basic Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating.
Training providers shall have a procedure that requires participants to sign a statement stating that they are medically fit to participate in the safety training and that they do not suffer from any medical illness or are under the influence of any narcotic substance or alcohol. Annex 2: Medical Self-Assessment Form shall be used if no other equivalent procedure is in place.
Participants’ signatures testifying to their medical fitness shall be collected prior to the start of the basic safety training course. Furthermore, participants shall have created a personal participant profile in WINDA and provide their own WINDA ID prior to completing the BST training.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

This BST Training shall enable participants to support and care for themselves and others working in the industry by possessing the knowledge and skills of First Aid, Working at Heights, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Sea Survival and in case of an emergency, to be able to evacuate, rescue and provide appropriate First Aid to Casualties.

The GWO Basic Safety Training is divided into the following 5 Modules:

1. GWO FIRST AID (1.5 DAYS)

Provides delegates with the skills to administer safe and effective first aid in and on wind turbines. Delegates will be equipped to administering safe and effective first aid in the wind turbine industry in accordance with GWO

2. GWO MANUAL HANDLING (1/2 DAY)

Provides delegates with the basic safety training required to carry out manual handling tasks in a safe way. Delegates will correctly be performing manual handling activities in the wind industry/wind turbine environment.

3. GWO FIRE AWARENESS (1/2 DAY)

Provides delegates with the basic knowledge to work safely in the wind industry. Delegates will become familiar possible hazards within the wind industry and how to control and mitigate these hazards

4. GWO SEA SURVIVAL (1 DAY)

Provides delegates with the skills and knowledge to travel safely to and from offshore wind installations. Delegates will be demonstrating sea survival techniques and safe transfer between vessels and installations

5. GWO WORKING AT HEIGHT (1.5 DAYS)

Provides delegates with the skills and knowledge to work in a safe manner in the wind industry. Delegates will be performing safe and comprehensive basic rescue from height in a remote turbine environment while meeting emergency response requirements for personnel new to the global wind industry.

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will carry out their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or offshore wind structure.

Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or workplace, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate the identified risks.

This course includes
