Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats
PRE-REQUISITES
All delegates must be in possession of a valid seafarer medical certificate issued by an approved practitioner, show evidence of attending STCW Basic Training.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- This course covers the requirement of international convention STCW 1978 as amended and Code (Manila amendments 2010) Chapter VI, Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-1 The Liberian Registry requirements on meeting the minimum standard of competence in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats, a delegates will be competent to operate lifesaving appliances and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during or after launch.
- Delegates will also be able to operate a survival craft engine and manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship.
- Delegates will know the correct use of all locating devices, including communication and signalling apparatus and pyrotechnic, how to apply first aid to survivors and the actions to take to preserve the lives of those in their charge.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
To successfully complete this training delegates must competence included knowledge, understanding, proficiency and demonstrating as the following:
- Take charge of a survival craft and rescue boat during and after launch.
- Operate a survival craft engine.
- Manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship.
- Use locating devices, including communication and signalling apparatus and pyrotechnic.
- Apply first aid to survivors..
- This course is aimed at seagoing personnel designated to launch and take charge of a survival craft or fast rescue boats in an emergency.
